The Prince George’s County Local Workforce Development Area is a Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) designated workforce area by the Governor of the State of Maryland. Required by WIOA, the Prince George’s County Local Workforce Development Area is governed by the Prince George’s County Local Workforce Development Board.  Appointed by the Prince George’s County Executive, the Prince George’s County Local Workforce Development Board is tasked with governing and operating the Prince George’s County Public Workforce System.  The Prince George’s County Local Workforce Development Board and Prince George’s County Executive has designated Employ Prince George’s, Inc. (Employ Prince George’s) to serves as the staff and fiscal agent of the Prince George’s County Local Workforce Development Board.

As the staff and fiscal agent of the Prince George’s County Local Workforce Development Board, Employ Prince George’s manages the Prince George’s County Public Workforce System. The Prince George’s County Local Workforce Development Board has branded the Prince George’s County Public Workforce System as the Prince George’s County American Job Center Community Network to the public, its partners, and stakeholders. The Prince George’s County American Job Center Community Network, including Employ Prince George’s as a nonprofit workforce development services provider, is a collection of job centers, access points for services, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, community-based organizations, and more. The Prince George’s County American Job Center Community Network provides workforce development services to over 30,000 job seekers and 4,000 businesses annually.  As the staff of the Prince George’s County Local Workforce Development Board, workforce development service provider, and Prince George’s County American Job Center Community Network manager, Employ Prince George’s operations are diverse and extremely complex.

Talent Acquisition Specialist

The Talent Acquisition Specialist performs the day to day tasks of the Talent Acquisition Department and is responsible for leading Employ Prince George’s efforts to connect job-ready job seekers to employment opportunities.  Under the supervision of the President, the Talent Acquisition Specialist works alongside the Division and Departments of Employ Prince George’s that provide workforce development services to youth and adult job seekers to certify the job-readiness of their participants and place them into Ready to Work.  Simultaneously, the Talent Acquisition Specialist works alongside the business engagement staff of Employ Prince George’s and the Prince George’s County American Job Center Community Network to convert job orders and job leads into the Employ Prince George’s Hot Jobs Listing. The Employ Prince George’s Hot Jobs Listing is the pool of job openings sourced by business engagement staff of Employ Prince George’s and the Prince George’s County American Job Center Community Network that need to be filled within 30 days. The ultimate goal of the Talent Acquisition Specialist is to match job seekers in the Ready to Work Talent Pool to job opportunities included in the Employ Prince George’s Hot Jobs Listing.

Director of Business Services

Under the leadership of the Director of Business Services, the Business Services Department is responsible for developing and executing various business engagement strategies to generate significant workforce development intelligence and cultivated employment opportunities for the Prince George’s County American Job Center Community Network from various regional employers across the regions in-demand industries. The Director of Business Services manages the operations of the Business Services Department and assigns tasks to the business engagement staff who are responsible for identifying, engaging, consulting and providing services to business throughout the region.  The Director of Business Services assigns Business Consultants to targeted in-demand industries to become subject-matter experts in those industries.  The Director of Business Services manages each Business Consultant as they develop and disseminate real-time labor market information and general workforce needs to be expressed by regional businesses to Employ Prince George’s staff and Prince George’s County American Job Center Community Network partners. Under the direction of the Director of Business Services, the Business Services Department serves as the voice and representative of businesses when working with Employ Prince George’s staff and Prince George’s County American Job Center Community Network partners to upskilling Prince George’s County residents, improving Prince George’s County educational and workforce programming, and developing a talent pipeline for each in-demand industry in the region. The Director of Business Services strategically develops an annual business engagement strategy for the Business Services Department, followed by implementation, assessment, and analysis of the strategy, the activity of the Department of Business Services staff, and the individual performance and impact of each staff member within the Department of Business Service. The Director of Business Services is also responsible in ensuring staff within the Department of Business Services are utilizing Employ Prince George’s customer relations management databases, inputting and updating data accurately, and reporting to leadership the outcomes from the databases. Ultimately the Director of Business Services is responsible for ensuring that the Business Services Department is consistently, efficiently, and successfully providing workforce intelligence, quality services to regional businesses, cultivating employment opportunities for Prince George’s County American Job Center Community Network job seekers and assisting in the development of job-ready talent to address the workforce needs of the Prince George’s County and DC Metropolitan Region.

ReEntry Career Consultant

The Pathways to Success Reentry Career Consultant supports the Workforce Services Division’s Job Seeker Services particularly as it pertains to programming for Returning Citizens. This position will also serve job seekers with multiple barriers to employment.

The Pathways to Success (PTS) Reentry Program, focuses on training, developing and increasing the employment outcomes of ex-offenders returning to Prince George’s County, hence reducing recidivism. Under the supervision of the Manager of Job Seeker Services, the Reentry Career Consultant will provide services that prepare program participants for employment through case management, career counseling, job search, and job matching activities.

The incumbent will be evaluated according to their ability to successfully enroll customers into Career Pathways programming, effectively case managing participants to complete job search and career development activities and obtaining employment, accurately recording services provided to participants in case management database, achieving program performance goals, coaching participants in preparation for employment and conducting community engagement activities.

Veterans Career Consultant

EPG’s Veterans Services targets Post 9/11 Veterans, transitioning service members, and their spouses and recently separated Veterans who reside in Prince George’s County. Under the direction of the Manager of Job Seeker Services, the Veterans Career Consultant will have the primary responsibility of conducting outreach and providing continuous case management and follow up services to assist participants to achieve their employment goals. More specifically this will include establishing connections with regional military installations and businesses to ensure the program meets enrollment goals and has adequate business partnerships to ensure successful employment outcomes. The Veterans Career Consultant will also develop strategies and plans to identify career ladders, provide job placement assistance and conduct orientations. The incumbent will be evaluated according to his/her ability to provide continuous case management and follow up services, meet performance goals for a number of customers enrolled in programs, successful completion of training, placement in employment, retaining employment and attaining wages of a specified standard.

Youth Career Consultant

Under the direction of the Director of the In-School Youth Services Department, the Youth Career Consultant will have primary responsibility for providing continuous case management and follow up services to assist customers in achieving employment goals; and ensuring retention of participants in all Youth Career Connections (YCC) program activities. More specifically, the Youth Career Consultant will work with youth to develop Individual Development Plans (IDP’s) that include mapping their career pathways and service strategies, follow up services and connection to supportive services and resources. The incumbent will assist with program outreach and enrollment and conducting one-on-one intake and support the team with facilitating group orientations. The incumbent will be evaluated according to his/her ability to meet performance goals for number of customers enrolled in programs, successfully completing training, entering employment, retaining employment, and attaining wages of a specified standard.

The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and other federal, state, local workforce development programs, knowledge of community resources, regional labor market, local hiring trends, and major employers. Excellent oral and written communication skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite desired.  Must be detail oriented. Candidate should be savvy in using the internet and social media in providing workforce services.  Must be able to function as a team member to accomplish goals.

Bachelor’s Degree in human services, social services, education or a related field is preferred. Two (2) years of experience working in workforce development or a related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.

Outreach Recruitment Specialist

Under the direction of the Manager of Knowledge Equals Youth Success (KEYS) within the Out-of-School Youth Services Department, the Outreach & Recruitment Specialist will have responsibility for developing, designing and implementing community participation and outreach to youth, parents, schools, community-based organizations, and public agencies on behalf of Youth Services and its internal programs.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of employment training and services, federal, state, and other local child labor laws, policies and procedures; demonstrated customer services skills, including the ability to effectively address problems and questions. Sound oral/written communication skills, including the ability to interpret and convey written youth services policies and procedures to youth customers and worksite supervisors, and to make presentations to individuals and groups.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.  At least two years of summer youth employment program experience and/or school base work experience, preferably in workforce development desired. Must pass a criminal background check.
